Tour Details

Bobiri Forest Reserve and Butterfly Sanctuary is an ecotourism center in Ghana and the only butterfly sanctuary in West Africa. It is enclosed by six communities, these are Krofrom, Kubease, Ndobom, Koforidua, Nkwankwaduam and Tsteteseakasum. Bobiri forest also serves as a research reserve and has one of the highest butterfly counts with different species in Ghana and it was created in 1931.

The Forest is an undisturbed rainforest. In front of the guesthouse is the butterfly sanctuary where different butterfly species could be observed. The butterflies are at their best during mid-day since they do not like moisture.

The reserve is ideal for rain forest walk through the carefully laid paths. Visitors would also have the opportunity of identifying different tree species. The forest canopy creates a cool and conducive environment which you will love.

Enjoy the visitor centre’s comfortable chairs and shaded porch as you plan your hike and meet your guide. The centre also offers Ghanaian board games for relaxation and local drums to try.
Take a guided nature walk which includes the sanctuary’s oldest tree (300-plus years) and its largest (it takes 24 people joining outstretched arms to encompass the tree) depending on the trail chosen. Tour the arboretum near the visitor centre either with a guide or on your own.
